Our Campaign will create 12 (eight 1-bedroom, four 3-bedroom) much-needed units of supportive housing at 85 Arch Street and 9 (six 1-bedroom and three 2-bedroom) units in our Vega Building. A big step in our project was taken in January with the demolition of 85 Arch Street. Board members, city officials, financial supporters, including campaign co-chairs Attorney Stephen Anderson and Michael Tomasso, and staff members braved the cold to witness Manafort Brothers begin the demo process.

Mayor Timothy Stewart donned a hard hat and raised the jaws of the excavator and removed huge chunks of the building to the crowd's cheers. Stewart was quoted as saying "the City must take care of people's basic needs".

With this Campaign, we also look to significantly grow our existing endowment fund. This will ensure our work with individuals and families who live in poverty and experience homelessness will continue. It will also provide adequate maintenance funds for our headquarters, the Virginia C. Davis Friendship Center building.

We can't do it without you. Our campaign needs every one of our friends to search their hearts, look at what they have and give generously . The staff and I, our Boards, Capital Campaign Cabinet and many individuals and organizations have already given. Now, we need you!

With deep thanks and gratitude,

Ellen Perkins Simpson
